Experience 4-H at the State Fair Opportunity

The Indiana State Fair provides a venue for about 850,000 people to learn about youth and agriculture.  In particular, the approximately 10,000 exhibits displayed by 4-H members in the 4-H Exhibit Hall, Centennial Hall, and Agriculture & Horticulture Building not only helps visitors learn about the state fair’s mission, but also helps promote the educational opportunities available to youth through the Indiana 4-H program.  One way to not only promote 4-H but also educate the public about youth and agriculture is to provide an opportunity for 4-H Clubs and Teen Teaching teams to conduct hands-on learning activities related to a 4-H project or topic area with guests in a make-it and take-it style education station.

On Saturday, August 11 Indiana 4-H will host an Experience 4-H @ The State Fair day. Various topic areas will be offered in several different locations across the fairgrounds including lawn tractor safety, youth dairy academy, and more. We would like clubs or Teen Teaching teams to consider participating in this fantastic event. The main program will be in the Farm Bureau building from 2:00-7:00pm with set up beginning at 1:00pm. We wish to offer subject matter from Healthy Living as well as Biosecurity, Biotechnology, and Leadership. If you have Teen teaching teams in these areas, please consider joining us for a fun filled day at the State Fair!

Please contact Purdue Extension Marshall County at 574-935-8545 if you are interested in participating in this event. We would be thrilled to have several groups of our members showcasing their skills they have learned through 4-H to the community and state!
